    The jump jet attack is how Natasha Kerensky died (at the hands of a commander Joanna of Clan Jade Falcon). The author has been told that it breaks canon. It also appears in the Solaris 7 sourcebook for Mechwarrior, but (if memory serves) requires the battlemech martial arts skill to use.

    The Jump Jet Attack is from the novel "I Am Jade Falcon", published way back in 1995. The maneuver itself was even depicted on the german cover. In the novel, a prone 'Mech defeats its opponent by hitting the head with all four leg-mounted jump jets. I did not read the novel, but I have vivid memories of the cover and was amazed when that type of attack got (optional) rules in the "Maximum Tech" supplement.

    Great summary Guys! Fellow warrior of my have a bad relation to the "Standing up PSR" dice-gods, so falls back usualy 2-3 times for every succesfull stand up. Can't wait to try tripping his Mech, then see it sloooowly decaying, and disintegrating by simply triing to get back on it's feet :D

    On small mechs, other than cost (in credits or bv if used) there's no need not to use an xl engine and ferrio or endo steel. Speed is armor for a mech like this. And I commonly confuse people by spelling armour this way too.

    I've been playing since before the clans were a thing and this mech will be seen from orbit when it gets penetrated. That said, for defending a point (where mobility won't matter quite so much), it should make a good showing of itself.

      @@AlphaStrikeWePlay I do have a soft spot for odd mechs. The Wyvern is a big fav of mine (also an excellent defender). I'd like to see what you guys can do to fix the Champion. Keeping it's speed to keep it's cavalry role, what kind of weapon systems and armor config would you use? I've used it as it is and think it'd be so much better without the ammo even if it's armor didn't change much.

    Always love watching your battles - I appreciate that you don't over-edit and let us see how you work through the turns and rule checks. Keep them coming! I wasn't sure if I would like this scenario at first, but as you played it out I thought it was really cool. It really makes you think about speed vs. damage output vs. armor as you balance capturing points vs. crippling the opponent so they can't capture.

    Two quick questions: 1. Can Battle Armor squads ride in the cargo space of vehicles? 2. Does a vehicle have to have a Troop compartment to carry infantry/BA, or can they shuffle into any old cargo space with room for them?

      Good questions. Generally, cargo space can accept infantry/Battle Armour for vehicles.

    To follow up.on what Tarron said, by the ilClan era, all but cutting edge Clan mechs are generally for sale via Clan Sea Fox. A quick perusal on Mech Factory will show that many Clan-only mechs ended up in Inner Sphere factions. Older designs, especially, like the Storm Crow, Timberwolf, etc, are far more likely to appear in IS hands than not, so long as the buyer has the funds.

    Try introducing Swinging Iniative Tarron: After rolling initiative, the player that lost initiative gains a +1 bonus for the following initiative round. This bonus is cumulative, until the loser wins initiative, at which time the opposing player gains the +1 bonus.

    Hi Guy's, Here are the rules I use for BrisCon's Take and Hold scenario: Take & Hold Game Setup Each ‘Mech enters the battlefield from your home edge in initiative order. There are three objectives placed on the board and they are your primary objective. Primary Objective During the End Phase of each turn, if you control an objective, you score 1 Victory Point. Special Rules How to gain and maintain control of an objective? To control an objective, you need to have more active ‘Mechs within 4 hexes of the objective than your opponent. If you and your opponent have the same number of ‘Mech’s within 4 hexes, then the player who’s ‘Mech’s are the closest to the Objective gains the victory point. If both players have ‘Mech’s equidistance from the objective the player with the most BV (including MechWarrior Upgrades) gains a victory point. ‘Mechs with an unconscious MechWarrior or that are shutdown, do not count towards controlling an objective. Objectives cannot be damaged, moved through (but can be jumped over), nor may a Mech finish its movement in the hex with the objective.

    Just found this video while looking for a refresher on how to use Aerospace units as I want to field a clan star that has a Kirghiz C (the variant that has a 10 ton infantry bay...) aerospace fighter in order to hot drop a couple of elemental points of the star onto things. Going to have to watch the rest of these videos, thanks for doing them!     Wait, are you looking for weirdness? There is an XL Engine variant of the Hunchback that might count as a striker, I think. It has 6/9 movement.

    Question then, an attacker on a level 2 hill targets the defender on level 0 terrain. Along the line of sight is a light woods on level 0 terrain but neither the defender nor attacker are adjacent to the light woods. Would the light woods intervene in this case?

    I play as the Marian Hegemony, so I switch all my missiles over to Rocket Launchers. The only downside I've had is that a bunch of rockets costs a lot more battle value than a lrm or srm with a ton of ammo. I only suggest the RL10, you can have three of them instead of a RL20 and the range is much better.

    Turn Sequence. All Ground fire resolved before Aerospace Attacks. You can shoot down your potential tormentor before he attacks. Any pilot control checks made in the end phase (so after aerospace attacks resolved. There were one or two other things I would quibble with but can't remember them off the top of my head. All in all a nice primer. Many thanks.

    Fantastic explanation again guys! There is an abstract aerospace combat methode in Strat Ops (somewhere near page 20). It simples the low alt. Map into zones, and have dogfight rules based on thrust points also. Worth a check :)

    The hex 0909 stuff doesn't apply anymore, errata for page 107 says you measure range to the flight path of the aerospace unit (both for low altitude and for aero on ground sheets rules) edit: you also use the aerospace above/below hit location table regardless of facing, and bombing ignores TMM and terrain

    5:47 _The PNT-10K has entered the chat_ Also, for the purposes of roleplaying in a campaign or something, there are two Clan PPCs that acted as in-between developments before they reached the legendary Clan ER PPC: The Improved PPC, and the Enhanced PPC. Improved is basically the standard version of a Clan PPC, has the same range, damage, and heat as an IS PPC, but weighs 6 tons. But the Enhanced PPC is a proper head clipper. 7 tons, same heat and ranges as an ER PPC, but it deals 12 damage. Came out in 2823, so if you're doing a campaign and you manage to liberate an old Clan stockpile of obsolete weapons, could be pretty sweet.

    I have only been playing tabletop for just over a year despite learning of BT back in the 80s & playing MW2 shortly after release. I have heard reference to Protomechs from other content creators & mainly how they are very overpowered & unbalance the game. I definitely see this & thus far in what I've read in the lore as I'm currently reading Sword & Fire where they were introduced they were a very difficult challenge for even heavy mechs to take down. I love BT for the stompy robots & feel that whether it's Protomechs, Aerotek, or artillery if it takes the spotlight off of proper mechs it isn't good for the game. I'm all for combined arms even if that means using mechs that have specific roles, but these buggers do seem to be ridiculous when it comes to the rules, & don't see why you would take mechs if you are competing & playing to win. You two seem to be in love with these things & whike I haven't finished this video yet it sure doesn't sound like you believe there is any drawback to game balance etc. Anyways I enjoy your channel & subscribed, & look forward to continuing to learn about this game & universe.
